Our Current Job OpeningsWhat makes us different - new therapies for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases
Immunic is a biotechnology company developing a clinical pipeline of orally administered, small molecule therapies for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases.
- Vidofludimus calcium (IMU-838) is in development as an oral next generation treatment option for patients with multiple sclerosis, or MS, and other chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It has already shown therapeutic activity in phase 2 clinical trials in patients suffering from relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis and moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis. Vidofludimus calcium is currently being tested in several ongoing MS trials, including the twin phase 3 ENSURE trials in relapsing multiple sclerosis and the supportive phase 2 CALLIPER trial in progressive multiple sclerosis. If approved, vidofludimus calcium, with combined anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and neuroprotective effects, has the potential to be a unique treatment option targeted to the complex pathophysiology of MS.
- IMU-856 is an orally available and systemically acting small molecule modulator that targets a protein which serves as a transcriptional regulator of intestinal barrier function and regeneration of bowel epithelium. This mechanism would be applicable in numerous gastrointestinal diseases, such as celiac disease, where it is currently being evaluated in a clinical proof-of-concept trial.
Immunic, Inc. is headquartered in New York City and is listed on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the ticker symbol ”IMUX.” Its subsidiary, Immunic AG, is based in Gräfelfing, near Munich, Germany, where the company’s research and development activities are conducted.

What makes us different - new therapies for chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases

IMU-856, which targets the protein Sirtuin 6, or SIRT6, is intended to restore intestinal barrier function and regenerate bowel epithelium, which could potentially be applicable in numerous gastrointestinal diseases, such as celiac disease, inflammatory bowel disease, short bowel syndrome and irritable bowel syndrome with diarrhea. Immunic is currently preparing clinical phase 2 testing of IMU-856 in patients with ongoing active celiac disease despite gluten-free diet, while also considering further potential clinical applications in other gastrointestinal disorders.
IMU-381, a development candidate to specifically address the needs of gastrointestinal diseases, is currently in preclinical testing.
